Custom segment creation is one of Sherlock's most important and powerful features. With custom segmentation, you can create user or account segments based on any engagement criteria.

Creating custom segments

From either the User or Account tab, you can create custom segments by clicking the Custom Segment + icon:

From there, you can create User or Account segments based on events, traits, active status, user counts, sign-up dates, # of users, engagement scores, activation rates, frequency (or any combination of the above).

EVENTS

You segment users or accounts based on who did - or did not do - an event within a time range.

ACCOUNT EVENTS

When creating user segments, you can target "users who belong to accounts that did or did not do a specific event." For example, you can create a segment of users who belong to an account who have done an event like created_project more than once.

TRAITS

Segment users or accounts based on those who has - or does not have - a specific trait value:

ACCOUNT TRAITS

When creating user segments, you can segment for users who are a part of an account that has - or does not have - a specific account trait. For example, you can create a segment of users who belong to an account with a trait like plan_type = enterprise.

SHERLOCK METRICS

Create segments based on their Sherlock Engagement Scores, Engagement Trends, Last Active date, Activation rates, and/or Frequency:

USERS

When segmenting accounts, you can also segment based on the number of Total or Active users on the account. You can also segment based on the Active user percentage of the account.
